After that, he pursued MS in General Surgery from RNT Medical College, Udaipur, and MCh in Neuro Surgery in PGIMER,  Chandigarh in 1984. he obtained short term training in microvascular surgery (Nagoya, Japan), skull base surgery, and Endoscopic surgery in  Japan  (Nagoya, Osaka, Matsumoto)  and Germany. He worked as a consultant in PGI Chandigarh for 15 years, and as Professor in AIIMS, New Delhi for 6 years(2000- 2006), and after that as Head of the department till 2017. He also worked as Registrar in Neurosurgery, Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast for 2 years and Consultant Neurosurgeon, Salmaniya Medical Centre, Ministery of Health, Bahrain
