The Ultimate Guide to Stay Healthy this Navratri

The onset of Navratri marks the beginning of a very auspicious time in the Hindu culture. These nine days are essential if you are keeping a fast. While many look forward to keeping a fast, they tend to miss out the essentials that a human body demands. There are very little options left when it comes to Navratri food; many people even consider going on a liquid diet. However, it is imperative that even while following rituals, one must eat right to bless the body with good health. Keeping a fast for nine days serves two purposes: one, worship of goddess Durga, and second, detoxification of the body. But, you have to be careful in order to remove all the toxins from it.

Follow these amazing tips to stay healthy this Navratri:

  • Do Not Eat Oily Food:
Do not stuff yourself with oily and fried foods that are usually consumed during fasts. It is an easy way to treat the taste buds and satisfy your hunger. However, if you look closely, you will notice, eating oily food makes you lethargic. Thus, instead of eating fried snacks the entire day, try consuming some kuttu flour and singhara flour. You can also have some healthy snacks or baked goods instead of fried.
  • Increase Liquid Intake:
You should drink plenty of water every day. Must have heard every doctor say this, right? Well, they are not wrong, especially during fasting. One should drink a lot of fluids, it not only helps keep your body hydrated, but it also makes you feel fuller during the day.
  • Eat at Regular Interval:s
Fasting, irrespective of Navratri or any other day does not mean to starve yourself. It means to give up on some foods that are not so good for a human body. Hence, make sure to have little snacks every now and then throughout the day. Consume your meals on time, but you can crunch some fruits, salads, and snacks in between if you feel hungry. Do not stay on an empty stomach for a very long time, this might actually be unhealthy for the body.
  • Try To Take Jaggery
Everyone needs a little salt and sugar in their body. It is the human body's requirement. You intake salt by eating healthy snacks, but what about sugar? The amount of sugar in the body remains low during the fast. So, instead of switching to normal sugar, try to intake jaggery. It helps improve the process of digestion and also aids relief in abdominal pain if any.

Navratri Special: Keep Track of Your Food

With the right attitude and planning, nothing can keep you away from the festivities of the occasion. Consult your doctor if required, especially if you are a diabetic, don’t take any chances with your health.
